Description

Explore one of the oldest Newari settlements in the valley. Try a traditional Newari food - one of Nepal's must-try dishes.

Kirtipur, located on a hill southwest of central Kathmandu, is one of many ancient kingdoms in the Kathmandu Valley that were once independent, but are now  part of greater Kathmandu. Kirtipur is considered one of the oldest settlements in the valley. It is a top destination to learn more about the Newar people,  one of Nepal's many distinct ethnic groups and the original inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley. Come to Kirtipur for exquisite architecture, hilltop temples and breathtaking city views.

Wandering the winding roads feels like walking through a traditional Nepalese village, but Kirtipur also offers some of the best views of the sprawling Kathmandu and the hills and mountains beyond. It is filled with cobbled streets, old brick houses with intricately carved doors and windows, and multi-storey pagodas. On this tour you will visit Bagh Bhairab Temple, Chilancho Stupa Temple, Uma Maheshwar Temple and  Theravada Buddhist Monastery. Enjoy lunch in Newari  before returning to your hotel.
