Description

Thorong Peak Climbing requires that you are reasonably fit and have a burning desire to see some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Besides climbing to 6144m, you will also get a firsthand experience of the amazing Gurung people in this remote region. They are Buddhists and live in isolated villages, have a distinct style of architecture and deep spiritual beliefs. The trail will take you through rhododendron forests with red, white, and pink blossoms that stand in stark contrast to the usual array of greenery. The rhododendron is Nepal’s national flower emblem. Thorong Peak is situated to the south of Thorong La Pass (5146m).

Your trek begins at Bhulbhule (840m) and progressively ascends through numerous villages until Thorong La Pass and then up to Thorong Peak. You will visit the holy Vishnu Muktinath Temple, considered sacred by Buddhists and Hindus, located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La Pass in the Mustang District. Muktinath is one of the highest temples in the world and is famous for its 108 water spouts in the shapes of bulls. The trek follows the Kali Gandaki River Valley passing through Jomsom (located on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River 2743m), Marpha (1630m), Tukuche, and Tatopani (meaning hot water in Nepali) before coming to an end in Pokhara.

This region is also famous for being the home of the legendry Gurkha soldiers revered the world over for their strength and tenacity in battle. Gurkha soldiers are today still a major component of the British army. When you consider the rugged mountains they call home, you will understand why they are highly regarded and as hard as nails! At every turn be prepared to see something new, ranging from terraced farmland sculptured out of hillsides and unique wildlife and amazing fauna, such as Yak, mountain goats and birdlife.

The remarkable yawning valleys, charismatic traditional Buddhist and Hindu villages, and their age-old cultures with a background of enormous peaks is certain to please the most fastidious traveler.

Mount Mania  will ensure your safety and comfort at all times to make this an enjoyable adventure into the wilds of the Annapurna region and on your climb to Thorong Peak.
